Minich Jr. Gets Win In
Seyferts 50
Ft. Wayne, IN (August 17, 2008)
– Steve Minich Jr. got the win in Saturday nights Howe CRA Sportsman
Series Seyferts 50 at Baer Field Speedway on Autograph Night. Minich
Jr. got his first series victory just the week prior in the
International Truck 50 at Baer Field Speedway on Friday, August 8th.
Minich Jr. worked his way through the field from his seventh place
starting position to grab the lead on lap 36 from Al Cook Jr. Minich
then cruised on to get the win.
Derek Hoffman grabbed the early lead
from his pole starting position and led the first five laps before Al
Cook Jr. grabbed the lead in his Tony Barcus owned machine, which he
took to victory lane in a Sportsman event earlier this season at Baer
Field. Cook held the lead until Minich Jr. got by on lap 36.Cook Jr.
would hold on to get second, Jesse Opliger finished in third place,
Chad Richardson in fourth and Rick Rinehart in fifth place.
Series points leader Tony Dager was
the Holley Performance Fast Qualifier on Saturday, but suffered engine
problems for the second straight race which ended his night on lap 35
giving him a 15th place finish, causing him to lose
valuable points to Rick Rinehart, currently second in series points,
who kept his streak of finishing in the top 10 at every series event
so far this season in tack Saturday night.
Minich Jr. was the Racing Electronics
Hardcharger Award winner after gaining six positions to get the win.
Jim Spillers was the Shively HP Hard Luck Award winner after failing
to complete a lap in the feature.
The next Howe CRA Sportsman Series
event will be on Monday, September 1st at Winchester
Speedway, part of the Labor Day Weekend World Stock Car Festival.
