Zimmerman Wins Championship
Winchester, IN (October
11, 2008)
Rex Zimmerman came into the event second
in season points by two to his teammate Bill Charles,
Charles
hurt his motor in a heat race prior to the feature and could not make
the race. Brian Redmond was the only car with a chance at catching
Zimmerman, but it made no difference as Zimmerman’s second place
finish earned him the 2008 Vore’s Welding & Steel CRA FWD Compacts
Championship. Redmond would finish second in series points. Tim Dilg
finished in third place in the Friday night feature, Jess Drook was
fourth and Randy Clinoan was fifth. Drook, Zimmerman and Richard
Isbell were winners in the eight lap heat races for that division.
Steve Christman Wins Vore's Welding and Steel 25
Winchester, IN (October 11, 2008) -
Steve Christman has raced and won with many
different rides in many different divisions at Winchester Speedway
over the years and now can count
the Vore's Welding and Steel CRA FWD Compact's as a new division he
has won with here. Rex Zimmerman needed to finish
ninth or better to win the Season Championship after Bill Charles car
broke and he could not start the feature. Zimmerman led the
first 20 laps of the race before Christman took the lead on lap 21 and
hung on to win with Zimmerman finishing second. Tim Dilg
finished third, Jess Drook fourth, Randy Clinton fifth.

Tim Dilg
Takes Monday's Vore's
Welding Steel 20
Tim Dilg
blew a tire in Sunday's
feature at Winchester
Speedway during the first
night of racing for the
World Stock Car Festival.
He made up for it on
Monday winning the first
event of the day, the Vore's Welding and Steel
CRA FWD Compacts, Vore's
20. Jess Drook
finished second after
passing third place
finisher Brian Redmond who
came from the tail to
challenge Dilg before
blowing a tire on the last
lap in turn 4 allowing
Drook around and nearly
allowing Bill Charles to
get to third.
Charles finished fourth,
and Rex Zimmerman finished
fifth.
"I have
been wanting to race here
since I was 12. To
win at Winchester Speedway
means the world to me.
Especially with my best
friend right behind me."
Dilg stated. "We cut
a tire last night and took
a hit in the points, but
we got it together today
to win."

Redmond
Wins Vore's Welding and
Steel 20
Brian
Redmond drew well starting
on the outside of the
front row. From that
position he took the lead
for the first seven laps
of race before Steve
Christman
chased him down and passed
for the lead on the 7 lap.
Christman's time up
front would be limited
though as his car
developed problems and he
was forced to drop out on
the 13th lap handing the
lead back to Redmond.
As the laps wore down
Redmond had built a strong
lead, when a caution flew
giving the rest of the
field a chance to restart
right on his tail.
"I
really wanted to get a
good restart."
Redmond stated. "I
have to get that car so I
am not caught between
gears when the green flag
drops. but tonight
it all worked out"
