Jeff
began his racing career in 1990 competing in mini-stocks and moved
to
Sunoco Super Series in 1997 with an impressive resume in modifieds. He
was the 1998 Jasper National Modified Champion, while making select
appearances in the SSS. He notched 18 victories in his championship
season and in 1999 was also the modified titlist at Anderson Speedway
while also being a regular on the SSS trial. In 2000, Jeff collected his
first career victory at Salem Speedway and experienced another career
milestone by finishing in the fourth position in the final standings. In
2001, he posted six top-five finishes including two second places
finishes at Anderson Speedway. In 2002 Jeff finished 5 in the
points Championship with one win, seven Top 5's, 13 Top 10's and led 102
laps.
This is an honor that is long over due.
When you look at how they did it, it makes this Championship more
impressive. Everyone in the pit area knows that they are backed by
probably the least amount of financial resources of any of the top teams
any where. That is evident when they roll into the race track, they
don’t bring two cars to the track, they don’t bring high priced hired
gun crew members, and they had to use a low buck sealed engine just to
make all the races. They didn’t have the major tire budget, or the
resources to do extensive testing. Its amazing they are here. So how did
they do it? Well, Its pretty simple, when you can’t pack the trailer
with all the great things money can buy, you better pack it with great
family and friends and a whole lot of unbridled passion. And that’s what
they did. But more importantly than all those things, they brought the
most important thing to the race track… by far, the most talented man
behind the wheel that we have seen in a long time. Combine pure passion,
talent and seat of the pants feel to a technical understanding, an
outstanding work ethic and a great personality, and you have a
combination that is hard to beat, and in 2005 you couldn’t. This team
has finished in the top 5 in the final points standings six consecutive
years and has been part of the series since the first race in 1997.
During their 2005 championship season, they recorded 2 hard charger
awards along with 2 fast times, 7 top 5 qualifying efforts, a series
leading 11 top five finishes as well a being one of only 3 drivers with
multiple wins. For too many years this was probably one of the most
underrated drivers, which makes this Championship only that more fitting
and well deserved. This CRA Super Series has been was touted as being
the most competitive and talented of any in the Midwest, which makes
this driver not only the best in our series but the best in the Midwest
and probably the county.
